‘Lost your mask?’ Campaign resumes
As the corona infection is on the rise in Surkhet, the ‘Lost Your Mask?’ Campaign has been re-launched. A public awareness campaign has been launched in Birendranagar from today under the auspices of District Kovid-19 Crisis Management Center (DCCMC).
The campaign, conducted in the presence of Chief Minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, distributed masks in the bus park area, Mangalgadhi Chowk and the main market area. Citizens who went out without wearing masks were asked to distribute masks and get vaccinated against corona. The second wave of corona virus also carried out a mask distribution campaign, but as the risk of corona gradually diminished, the campaign was re-launched under the leadership of the District Administration Office.
Chief Minister Shahi said that every citizen should follow the standards of public health to control the growing infection of corona. “At least when everyone wears a mandatory mask when they go out, it helps a lot to prevent the spread of the infection,” he said. Chief Minister Shahi urged the people to get vaccinated wherever they can as the state government is conducting the vaccination campaign with the help of the federal government.
Chief District Officer and District Covid-19 Crisis Management Center Coordinator Khagendra Prasad Rijal said that it was important to be vigilant as the risk of corona was high. He said that most of the citizens were walking without masks during the monitoring. Chief District Officer Rijal said that action will be taken against those who walk without wearing a mask from Sunday. There are currently 596 active corona infections in Surkhet. Infection was confirmed in 215 people in Surkhet on Friday alone.
