Beni-Jomsom road closed for 6 hours daily

The Myagdi section of Beni-Jomsom road has been closed for six hours daily from today due to upgrading. Roads are being upgraded in Annapurna Gaonpalika-7 Mahabhir and Ward No. 2 Naunibagar of Myagdi under the Kaligandaki Corridor, Beni-Jomsom-Korla road project connecting North and South of national pride.

Residents of Annapurna village municipality of Myagdi and Mustang, pilgrims, tourists and businessmen have been affected after the implementation of road transport schedule. Project Chief Jagat Prajapati informed that a timetable has been set for the expansion and construction work by shutting down the transport service from 8 to 11 in the morning and from 1 to 4 in the afternoon till January 6.

“We have prepared a schedule for rock cutting in Mahabhir section and expansion and upgrading in Naunibagar section,” he said. The 200-kilometer Beni-Jomsom-Korla road project connecting Korla Naka, an autonomous region of China, which was started in 2074 BS, is currently under construction in 12 sections.

The physical progress of the project, which has so far completed the construction of six sections in Mustang, is 65 percent. Sharma-United JV had won the contract to pave 11 meters road in Mahabhir and Naunibagar sections.

Representatives of the company said that the road construction and upgrading has been expedited by mobilizing equipment including labor excavators. The black paper of DBSD technology was started last May on the 19-kilometer Galeshwor-Narchang section of Myagdi and the 6-kilometer road from Rahughat to Begkhola.

Expansion, wall and drain construction work has been completed in most parts of Begkhola to Narchang Bridge. Sub-bases have been set up in some places with preparations to blackmail within the next four months.
