Hospital staff involved in fake PCR business
Kathmandu : It has been found that the employees of the hospital are involved in illegal activities of making fake PCR reports without swabs.
According to the Metropolitan Crime Branch, the employees of the Civil Community Teaching Hospital Limited in Kaushaltar in Madhyapurthimi of Bhaktapur and the staff of Kantipur Hospital in Tinkune of Kathmandu were found involved in the fake business.
According to Basanta Bahadur Kunwar, Senior Superintendent of Police, the PCR report required for those going for foreign employment is being prepared without taking the amount specified by the Government of Nepal.
On the basis of special information, Roshan Kumar Chhittan, a resident of Dhanusha Ghar, Lalitpur, was arrested on Tuesday along with eight fake PCR test reports. Police have also arrested Prasanna Kumar Jha, a lab manager living in Sarlahi when he reached the hospital from Kaushaltar in Bhaktapur.
Similarly, Nagendra Kumar Yadav, a resident of Gaushala, Dhanusha, Kantipur Hospital, Kathmandu, has been arrested along with 17 fake PCR reports and Madhav Mainali, a resident of Suryabinayak, Kavrepalanchok.
Police have also seized computers and equipment used to make fake PCRs and PCR test registration registers from labs of both the hospitals in the presence of representatives of National Public Health Laboratory Teku. The search for the absconding lab operators Bhavesh Mishra and Nirmal Giri and the lab doctor who signed the PCR report is underway, the department said.
Labs of both the hospitals are being sealed and investigation is underway. The police investigation has found that they have made the report negative and the specialist doctors working in the lab have given the report using their digital signature without looking at the report.
It has been revealed that the city value of the sample which is seen as PCR positive is given below the negative report and the date of PCR report is also given below.
The department has also revealed the fact that the hospital used the middleman as an employee of the hospital to collect the collective swab by making an identity card. It has also been found that without the presence and swab of the concerned person, the middleman collects his own swab and gives it to the lab in the name of different people and the lab provides PCR report easily.
