36 houses in the road area were demolished
Karnali :Upgradation of Mangalgadhi-Kankrevihar road of tourist importance of Surkhet has been started. Thirty-six houses in the road area have been demolished since the upgrade work started last year, which was halted due to locals’ obstruction and bandh bandhi.
Ward Chairman of Birendranagar-9, Suresh Manandhar, said that 36 houses were partially and completely demolished within the road area. He said that the locals have agreed to demolish the house for road expansion after the coordination of the ward office. After the demolition of the house, the construction company has started widening the road and constructing a canal. Similarly, electricity poles have also started moving.
The road, which is being constructed with the help of Karnali state government, is planned to be graveled only in the current fiscal year. According to the Road Infrastructure Directorate, 25 meters wide and 2 meters sidewalk area will be constructed. Immortal Sisne Nepal Megha JV has won the contract for upgrading at a cost of Rs. The company has been given a mandate to complete the road upgrade by July 30, 2080 BS.
